Visit comfort

Cloakroom

  • Personal effects deposited must be collected the same day
  • The depositor is responsible for any valuables deposited
  • The cloakroom may be closed and/or fully booked during peak periods

As part of the Vigipirate plan, the following are not accepted at the school entrance:

  • Suitcases and large bags
  • Scooters and other individual vehicles

The following are permitted:

  • Bicycle helmets left in the hands of visitors. Ideally hung up or placed in small bags and kept with them
  • Motorbike helmets
  • Pushchairs and trolleys for people with reduced mobility (dedicated parking area)

Loan of equipment

Wheelchairs, baby carriers, cane seats and anti-theft devices are available for visitors.

Stroller park

As the temporary exhibition in the basement is not accessible to pushchairs, parking is available on the ground floor. The visit of our permanent collection and the Henri Gaussen Botanical Garden can, for its part, be carried out with (several lifts on the route).

Accessibility

The reception desk, the cash desks, the Champs libre studio and the auditorium are equipped with magnetic loops for hearing-impaired visitors.
A reading machine is available to the public on request in the libraries of the Museum.
A video magnifier is available to the visually impaired to facilitate reading documents at the reception of the Museum.

The Museum is equipped with toilets on the different floors, most are equipped with changing tables.

Mobile visit

Tablets are offered to visitors to discover the Museum through thematic guided tours in French, English, Spanish and French sign language.

Loans are made free of charge on request at reception, in exchange for an identity document.

On your smartphone

You also have the possibility of following these mobile visits by connecting to the local WI-FI “Visite Muséum Mobile” from your smartphone.

In the permanent exhibition, the botanical garden or the Gardens of the Museum at Borderouge, find your way around each object or follow a themed guided tour. The choice is yours, once you’re there.

How does it work?

You can access it in a matter of seconds. There’s no application to download.

It’s very simple: you come to the museum and connect to the local WIFI (which is not Internet WIFI) called VISITE MUSEUM MOBILE. Depending on your smartphone, you’ll automatically be directed to the VISIT home page, otherwise you’ll just have to enter visite.io in your browser. And off you go!

Good to know:

  • Your headphones can be useful for enjoying video and audio.
  • 18 Ipads can be borrowed free of charge from reception
  • With WIFI activated, we advise you to deactivate 4G/5G.
  • A tour of the permanent exhibition is available in EnglishSpanish and LSF (French sign language).

Multi-sensory case

Open these treasure troves and discover the Museum with all your senses.

Rocks, fur, skeletons, naturalised animals and other surprises are hidden in the drawers of these cases, themed by floor.

Each case comes with a map of the Museum and an accompanying leaflet containing observation games, riddles and explanations, and inviting you to handle an object related to the specimen on display.

  • 1st floor case: A case on wheels and a general booklet, to read or have read to you.
  • 2nd floor case: A case on wheels with 3 different supports:
    • a general booklet
    • an app for an interactive tour via tablet or smartphone
    • an audio tour
  • There are two versions of each resource (available free of charge by prior arrangement):

    • 7 years and over
